New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has mandated additional police patrols on all major roadways this Halloween. Drivers who are traveling throughout New York State and especially Nassau County and Suffolk County can expect an even greater number of sobriety checkpoints and additional DWI patrols than in past years. The enforcement campaign runs from Friday, October 27 through Wednesday, November 1, 2017, and is funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
These task forces are instructed to issue traffic citations as it is vital to the State’s interest in public safety as well as toward providing significant funding for state and local government operating costs.
In addition, law enforcement will be looking for motorists who are using their phones and other portable electronic devices while behind the wheel, in order to enforce the stringent restrictions dictated by NYS VTL Sections 1225(c) and 1225(d).
