Increased Traffic Stops on Long Island
Now that many COVID restrictions have been lifted and we are transitioning to warmer weather, you may have noticed more people are outside and on the roads. Because of this increased vehicle traffic, police DWI Patrols, Highway patrols, and motor carrier patrols have all increased their presence in Nassau County and Suffolk County. Nassau County Police and Suffolk County Police are now being more active in monitoring vehicles and trucks for violations of the vehicle and traffic laws.
Restaurant patrons especially are once again targets of DWI patrols. While Governor Cuomo and the State Liquor Authority (SLA) are still enforcing certain pandemic-related restrictions, police presence around restaurants has increased.
There have also been increases in normal traffic citations being issued including those for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (NYS VTL 511, 511a), Speeding tickets under 1180b, Disobey traffic control device 1110a, fail to signal 1163a and more.
